P1- Understanding employment and education in the media sector

- Working with disabled children- I used to work with a disabled boy for a year. I had to teach him everyday activities that would be easy for any able child eg. eating, drinking, smiling, frowning, grasping different objects etc.
- Using different softwares- I have recently created a documentary which shows a demonstration of both premier and photo shop. The documentary is about Life on the river cam, showing the audience about punters and how the inside of the job really is. I used premier to construct the documentary and I used photoshop to make the title sequence.
d) Experience and interests
-I have worked in many different jobs and have experienced different working environments. My most recent job is working as a tourguide on the river cam. I have to give an informative speech about all of the colleges in Cambridge and push a boat with a pole at the same time. In order to do this I have to have good people skills, an understanding of speech (foreign accents) good at answering questions on the spot and good at projecting my voice for people to hear.
- I am mostly interested in the graphic design industry along side editing and creativity. I hope to one day create my own digital portrait business and employ many colleagues to help me achieve my goal successfully.
Strengths
In terms of strengths I have many skills that I think will help me within graphic design. I can use softwares such as Photoshop, final cut, after effects, adobe illustrator and premier pro. This will help me in my future because it is an asset that I already have and will not need to learn. I have good communication skills which will help me build my business by being remembered by certain people. I can also create my own advertisement which will help push my business into the right direction and also save some money.
Weaknesses
I think that the only real weakness that I have is starting by myself and putting all the weight on my shoulders. In order to have a successful business I need to be able to afford all the equipment. This will take a lot of time to do but this can be solved by working hard and setting myself deadlines to be able to achieve this.

P4- Flow diagram
My main plan is to set up my own business within Graphic Design seeking to engage new clients and complete personalised work for individuals. I have set out some of the equipment needs and skills i need to develop in order to reach my aim on setting up a small graphic design company.
I have contingency plans to attend Bath Spa University if I did this I would aim to continue to develop my outside client base and freelance work. As highlighted in my audit, along side both of these options I will build my photographic portfolio by taking pictures mostly of portraiture and landscapes to show a diverse collection within my portfolio.
Various things i need to reach this goal would be:

will book my theory test and buy a car for when I need the transport. I wont need transport 24/7 as most of my work will be digital based and I can e-mail work. When I am eventually finished a piece of work I will print my final piece onto a canvas and then transport will be necessary.

P5- Personal statement
Words,
Speech, Art. These are all perfect examples of how humanity has evolved. What
would the world be like without these devices? Communication is key. Within my
two years, studying creative media at sixth form, I have learnt how to
communicate with the public using many different platforms.
This
course excites me; knowing that eventually I will have the skill set to ‘wow’
people with my work after being released into the world. I will be able to
entertain and grasp the attention of other human beings through what I have
created and be proud of it. Whichever path I am to choose I know that I love
to: excite people, please people and (occasionally) make them cry! What better
way to impact peoples’ emotions than through my work?
This
course will be perfect for me; I like to communicate with people, I enjoy
others company, I like to inspire, influence and inform people in a dynamic
way. I have experienced all these skills as a part time tour guide in Cambridge
on the river Cam. I learnt to deliver an interesting, historical presentation
with my aim to engage and inform customers about the iconic landmarks in
Cambridge whilst punting. This also illustrates my leadership, which I could
bring to the course along side my confidence with public speaking. Punctuality
was key to the job, arriving at work on time was extremely important which has
now taught me to be punctual and excited to work.
I have a sensitive nature and I’m keen to
listen to others opinions. I also work well with a group and I enjoy finding
solutions. I have worked with children and specifically I worked with a
disabled little boy, which I enjoyed thoroughly. I had to take on
responsibilities such as: dressing him, feeding him through a feeding tube, helping
him with everyday tasks that others can complete with no problems (grasping
objects etc.) This was voluntary work but I made it my priority to see him
every week and help him.
In
my free time I like to write and sing songs, which I then record, edit and
publish on social media websites. I also like to watch films. Travelling
interests me because of diverse cultures and places. I create paintings that
feature crazy colours and animals along side my experimenting with media make
up.
I’m
very excited about University because I am passionate about pursuing a path in
something that I enjoy and love; I see that university will give me the
experience and devices I need to be successful and enjoy my future career.
